It is said that 2/3rds of all national lottery jackpot winners go broke after only a few years. This, if true is a terrible statistic. However, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Here are the stories of four national lottery jackpot winners who not only did NOT go broke but actually made more money!

National Lottery Jackpot Winners:

Mark Brudenell, 50

Won a Lotto jackpot of £916,915 in February 1997.

Mark Brudenell, 50

Lives with his wife Cheryl, 44, in a five bedroom family home in Stockton-on-Teas.

Mark was a chemical tanker driver when he became one of our 4 national lottery jackpot winners, and Cheryl was the manager of a local bakery.

Four years after the win the couple set up their own double glazing business which they have been running successfully for 13 years and currently employ ten people.

He said: “We used a majority of our lottery winnings to set up our business; however we also bought ourselves a great home as well as a some lovely cars – a Range Rover Sport and an Audi A5. Winning the lottery set us up for life and has given us options we would never have had.”

Grimsby-born Roy was a sheet metal worker when he became the biggest of our 4 national lottery jackpot winners.

Following his win he bought a six-bedroomed mansion in Grimsby with a mini-casino, jacuzzis, bar and games room complex as well as a gym, fishing lake, summerhouse and woodlands.

A keen horseracing fan Roy also purchased three race horses which he has since sold on.

In more recent years Roy, a father of 3, has relocated to Nairn in Scotland with his partner Darlene and youngest son.

He has also continued his love of sport by buying a social football club and supports his local football team Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Roy has also setup his own sheet metal company in partnership with Dave Fenwick who he worked with many years ago.

Roy has also invested in a number of properties in both Grimsby and Nairn as well as a luxury villa in Cyprus.

Roy said: “When I won I enjoyed all the luxuries you would expect of national lottery winners – even featuring my winning lottery numbers on the bottom of my 50′ swimming pool which I built at my Grimsby home.

“Nowadays I don’t indulge myself quite as much as I used to but still enjoy the carefree life winning has given me. I split my time between my villa in Cyprus and Britain.

“I also feel it was important to give back and have supported many charities – whether its running charity fishing days or dressing up as Father Christmas for the local hospital.”

Eloise, from Colchester, became one of the UK’s richest teenagers when she won over £ 1 million three years ago.

The down-to-earth nineteen-year-old, who was working in Co-Op at the time of her win, celebrated by having a pub dinner with her boyfriend, now husband, David.

Since becoming one of the youngest national lottery jackpot winners she has used her windfall for the ‘big things’ in life like buying a car and a house. She also paid for the couple’s wedding and dream honeymoon across America earlier this year.

She has also used the money to build her mobile beauty business and her husband David, 28, has set up an online toy company.

She said: “When I won I was able to treat my family which was an amazing feeling.

“David and I have taken our time spending the money using it to invest in the ‘big things’ in life like our home and wedding.

“We’re both working hard to get our businesses going but knowing we have financial security at such a young age is phenomenal!”

After realizing he had won Matt wasted no time planning how he wanted to enjoy his newfound wealth and within 48 hours of winning the lottery quit his job, as an electrical engineer in a factory, and booked flights for himself, his brother, and two friends to Indonesia.

In the months following his win, he traveled the world including taking a group of his friends to Ibiza, treating his family to a holiday in Italy as well as going to the World Cup in Brazil.

He has just returned from a trip across America with his brother, Pete, who he has also set up a property development business with.

He said: “I still have to pinch myself. I can’t stop laughing about how incredibly my life has changed since winning the lottery.

“I’ve loved traveling the world and sharing my lottery winnings with my family and friends – it has just been the most amazing experience.

“I have enjoyed every minute and plan to make the most of this opportunity.”
